I joined the Dark Side | The Dark Side of Books, Audiobooks! | A Review of Audible

I finally caved and decided to try audiobooks. I love books. Holding them, turning the pages, feeling the pages. The lines paperback spines get. The smell of books! I love the physicality of books. However, I haven't picked up a book to read in ages. I never have time. I love discovering new stories and falling into new worlds. I miss books.

So I caved. I went on to my Amazon and found the homepage add for Audible that comes with 2 audiobooks and took the plunge. I never really like the idea of audiobooks because I love the feel of physical books. I also thought I'd never been able to pay attention to audio.

I understood the appeal of audiobooks. I just didn't think I was a person who could pay attention to them. But I missed books so much and really wanted to re-read Harry Potter so I decided to give it a try.

I linked my Amazon account to audible and immediately used my 2 credits for Harry Potter, Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. and after 5 minutes I was hooked. I think a large part of that is due to Jim Dale's amazing narration! I started just listening. Then I started playing it while editing graphics. I was really surprised that I didn't have an issue paying attention.

I've joined the dark side! I'm really into them now! I can't wait to get all the HP books and maybe Game of Thrones too! I thought when audible first came out that you only had the books while you had a membership but you get to keep the books. I currently download one at a time on my phone.

You get one credit a month and a 40% discount on a ton of titles for being a member. Audiobooks are kind of crazy priced. So instead of paying the $62 for A Song of Fire and Ice you can get it for the price of the membership if you use your credit.

I've kind of fallen for audible. I've got a road trip coming up and I'm going to download the 3 HP books I have and listen to as much as I can on the drive!

If you guys want to check out Audible you can use my affiliate link to get a 30-day free trial and two free audiobooks. Yes, two! Take that all you audible promoting YouTubers! The affiliate link means that I will earn a commission if you sign up for a free trial.

Amazon did not ask me to do this post. I have been an Amazon affiliate for years but they have no direct connection to this post. I wanted to write a post about my experience with audible after hearing about it for years and always thinking it wasn't for me. I included my affiliate link so you guys could get two free audiobooks. This is not sponsored.

Ok with that out of way. I really did enjoy my time using audible. I cancelled my membership since I can't really shell out the membership fee every month but Audible my just be the next subscription I sign up for when I can. I genuinely enjoyed the audiobooks and I think the free credit for any book is well worth it. Plus you can exchange books! Whether you've finished a book and want something new or got a book and didn't like it you can swap out a book in your library.

Have you tried Audibly? Or just audiobooks in general? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
